Go down to your local plumber/DIY or Hardware shop, get a length of ABS or PVC polypipe:

Now I used a ring, split it to stretch over the end of the pipe and used this as a markup guide.  I'll get a mitre saw to make this job a piece of cake in the future:

As you'll discover the wheel is BIGGER than the inside diameter of the pipe!:

This isn't a problem - believe me Smiley

When you've cut all 4 'tyres' deburr them inside & out (I use a pipe deburrer for the inside, and the concrete path I sit on to hacksaw the pipe, for the flat face)

Now comes the quart into a pint pot bit Smiley

Make sure you place the OUTSIDE of the wheel in FIRST!!! (it's a hell of a job if you do it the other way round)

Once you've got it this far down =>

...you'll need a flat object (book, piece of wood etc.) to sit on top whilst pushing firmly down, the last bit as the pipe pops over the bottom rim of the wheel finishes it off

There you have it, a set of RC Drift tires

All you got to do now is put two spots of superglue (CA/cyano) on one side of the wheel - I chose the outside - to stop it sliding off (it will if you don't) we aren't racing on rubber here so we don't need to run a bead all the way round on both sides of the wheel

Total time including making the RC Drift tires, putting everything away, booting up the pc, uploading the pics to the RC DRIFT GALLERY and writing this article, - 2 hours

Now get down the store and get some ABS, you know it makes sense Smiley

DOH - I just looked at the 1st pic, it's ABS  not PVC, all along I thought it was PVC, now that explains the powder residue under the chassis after every run  Roll Eyes

That's  a great how-to Odie, I didn't really know what to look for, Pipewise! I didn't want to walk in to a DIY shop with a wheel in my hand and ask for something that fits....

i did this tomorow, but here in the netherlands is the size what the best fits 58mm inside but thats to much for my wheels

but what is the outside mm from this pipe or the pvc?

The picture above shows the I/D to be Ø51,49mm and the wall thickness is 2mm so therefore pipe O/D is Ø55,49mm

I have some HDPE black pipe with an 8mm wall thickness but the inside Ø is too small but you can get the wheel in by leaving the tyre (without wheel) in boiling water for 5 minutes (it softens the plastic enough to stretch over the wheel)

So a tip here for anyone who thinks the tyres are too small, try the hot water treatment (but ask an adult first if you are unsure) Wink

If you're using standard wheels then these ABS drift tyres fit fine

Hey great to have ya here dude Wink

It's all in the setup dude, very soft front springs, slightly stiffer rears, 30WT oil all round (not really important though) and very important 0° camber all round

Next drop a 27T stock in with stock gearing

Next, set the diffs as you would for grip racing i.e. nice and smooth

No antiroll bars

Max steering throw

Now be prepared to retrain your throttle finger/thumb as this will be doing all the work as steering isn't used anywhere near as much as grip racing, so it's gently does it with throttle Wink (biggest tip)
